Training to be a service dog is very hard work, not only for the puppy raisers at the Northern New England Volunteer Chapter of Canine Companions, but for these two dogs, Whitt and Freeman III as well! Whitt is almost ready to be sent off to Medford, New York, on Long Island where the advanced training facility is. There he will learn more advanced tasks like opening doors and retrieving small items, like a piece of paper off the floor! Freeman III is just starting his training and learning the basics like “sit” and “stay”. The puppy raisers also make sure to bring them both out to public places to get them acclimated to various environments!
