This is Basil, a three years old psychiatric service dog trained at Doggonit Training by Kelly Bourgeois for Alyssa LaFoe. Upkeep is very important and even though he is a fully trained service dog, she still needs to practice his tasks with him. Like humans, dogs can forget the skills that they have learned, you know the phrase “use it or lose it”? Here, they are at Lowe’s practicing his “sit (or down), stays”. This is where she has him lay down and tells I’m to stay, then walks away. This is very hard, especially because he is practically at her side twenty-four/seven, but he is doing a great job here!
